Evans To Announce Saturday

Jason Evans, the sensational running back from Georgia, will announce his college destination this Saturday. Which team leads? Can you read between the lines?

Name: Jason Evans
Position: RB
Height: 6'1 1/2"
Weight: 185 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.4
Bench Press: 260 pounds
School: Harrison High, Kennesaw, GA

LionNews checked back with Jason to confirm or deny a rumor that he has already verballed to Penn State.

"Ha, I don't know about that, I don't know about that yet," Jason said Monday evening.  "It will definitely be by Saturday.  Everybody's expecting it by Saturday, so I'm going to give it out Saturday afternoon.  If you call Saturday, I'll be here.

"I'll call the coaches Friday, whichever coach it is, but I'll announce it Saturday."

Has he already made his decision?

"Sort of, I mean I can't go wrong, so I'm pretty set."

Who are his finalists?

"Penn State, Stanford and Texas A&M," he replied.

Should we read anything into the fact that he listed Penn State first?

"Maybe," he laughed.

Has his application to Stanford been accepted yet?

"Yes, I think so, from what I know yes."

Comments:  That last bit of information, coupled with some other info that I have received, seems to indicate that it is between PSU and Texas A&M.  If Stanford was his choice, I would have expected him to know for certain whether or not he has been accepted before announcing.  I love Penn State's chances with Evans.  There is an incredible opportunity at Penn State right now for a talented young running back to plug into a storied program which has loaded up with superior offensive line recruits, is known for running the ball and hasn't recruited a top-ranked running back for several years now.
