The 2006 All-Big Ten teams have been announced, and eight different Penn State players have found themselves being honored by the conference. The group is led by senior linebacker Paul Posluszny, a first-team pick by the media and coaches.

This is the second-straight season Posluszny was picked as a first-teamer by both groups. With one game left in his career, Posluszny is already Penn State's all-time tackles leader with 364. Earlier in the day, he was named a finalist for the Bednarik Award, which goes to the nation's top defender.

Also receiving first-team All-Conference mention was sophomore safety Anthony Scirrotto, who got the nod from the media. In his first year as a starter, Scirrotto has 50 tackles and is tied for the Big Ten lead with five interceptions.

Six Penn State players received second-team notice, including defensive tackle Jay Alford, offensive tackle Levi Brown, linebacker Dan Connor, tailback Tony Hunt, cornerback Justin King and punter Jeremy Kapinos.

Also Wednesday, Connor was named a finalist for the Bednarik Award and Kapinos was named a finalist for the Ray Guy Award, which goes to the nation's best punter.

Honorable-mention All-Big Ten picks included receiver Deon Butler, defensive tackle Ed Johnson, defensive end Tim Shaw and center A.Q. Shipley.

A senior captain, Brown also received a sportsmanship award from the Big Ten.
