Wilmington, Del., defensive end/offensive tackle Devon Still made his way to State College this weekend to visit Penn State for an official visit. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound product of Howard High School of Technology had previously listed Ohio State as his leader with Michigan and Penn State trailing behind. Still indicated that his visit may have changed his mind a bit.
I went to Penn State on Friday and stayed for the weekend, Still said. I took a tour around campus. The campus was really nice. After that I went to meet the coaches and watch practice. I really liked the way they practiced. They were all very aggressive.
Still has been recruited as either a defensive end or an offensive tackle by some schools, but Penn State has decided where it would like him to play.
They like me as a defensive end, Still said. I met with Coach Larry Johnson, who would be my position coach. I really liked talking with him and he seems like a great coach.
In addition to practice and the campus tour, Still also experienced some of Penn State's other sports. I went to a volleyball game and a basketball game with BranDon Snow and Lydell Sargeant, Still said. We had a pretty good time.
Still also caught up with head coach Joe Paterno during his visit.
My family and I visited Coach Paterno's house and we just talked about some things, Still said. My parents were able to ask some questions and Coach Paterno just talked about how they really wanted me at Penn State.
Still also commented on where Penn State stands after the official visit.
Penn State is tied with Ohio State right now as my leader, Still said. I am no longer going to take a visit to Michigan. I am hoping to make a decision sometime before Christmas.
Still was visited last week by some assistant coaches from both Penn State and Ohio State.
Coach Ron Vanderlinden from Penn State visited me on Tuesday last week, Still said. Coach Darrell Hazell from Ohio State visited on Wednesday last week as well. Monday (Dec. 4) Coach Hazell and Coach (Jim) Tressel are coming in to visit as well. Coach Paterno said that he will come to visit in January at some point after his leg gets a little better.
Realizing that Still planned on making a decision before Christmas, yet Paterno had indicated that he could not visit until January, we asked if this would be an issue.
I hadn't really thought about that, Still said.
Look for more on Still in the near future as it appears his decision should be coming soon.
