NC State Commit Considering PSU

Yet another committed player is taking a hard look at the Nittany Lions, this time it is Desmond Roberts, a 6-foot-5, 260 pound offensive lineman from Gaston (Northampton High-West), North Carolina.

With Shrine Bowl practices taking place this week, some Penn State coaches have been down south, seemingly to visit Class of 2007 members Kevion Latham and Quinn Barham, who are both in the Carolina all-star game. However, the Nittany Lion staffers are also keeping an eye on Desmond Roberts, a 6-foot-5, 260 pound offensive line prospect, ranked Scout's No. 10 center nationally.

Although he is committed to NC State Roberts is talking about taking some to make sure his bases are covered as the NC State staff gets settled.

"I'm still committed to State right now," said Roberts. "I'm going to be going on official visits when I get back in January. I have one to State set for the 12th, I believe. I'm going to Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Carolina. I'm confused about Penn State and Virginia Tech. It is either the 19th and 26th for one and the other, but I am going the first weekend in February to Carolina right before signing day."

Roberts said that he does not feel the NC State staff will be filled until next year, and he wants to make sure that his status with the school does not change.

"I did talk to Coach O'Brien last night on the phone. He said he was bringing a lot of guys down from Boston College with him and they won't be there until after the bowl game so I am looking around a little more to see if anybody needs a center just in case."
