Carolinas Sweet for Penn State

Penn State has regularly made the Carolina region a destination when it comes to uncovering football talent. From legends like Bobby Engram and Courtney Brown to recent players like Calvin Lowry and Rodney Kinlaw, the Nittany Lions have consistently targetted the Carolinas for prospects. Get a look at the current round of talent PSU is looking to draw to Happy Valley.

Currently Penn State has two Carolina prospects committed to the Class of 2007 with Quinn Barham, a 6-foot-4, 265 pound offensive lineman and Kevion Latham, a 6-foot-3, 240 pound defensive end.

Both Barham and Latham would be the most recent in a long line prospects who have made an impact on Penn State in the past several years, including Courtney Brown, Bobby Engram, Calvin Lowry, Paul Cianciolo, Joe Cianciolo and Rodney Kinlaw.

The Nittany Lions are also pursuing another North Carolina prospect in Tydreke Powell, a 6-foot-3, 285 pound defensive tackle. Powell is down to North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Penn State and plans a Happy Valley visit on January 12 of next year.

All three players were teammates last week in the annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolina's, matching all-stars from North and South Carolina. Here is footage of all three players in action in that game:
