Paterno Talks Scott, Ridenhour

There have been lots of rumors flying around Austin Scott and Spencer Ridenhour regarding both being sent home recently from the bowl site in Tampa, Florida. Joe Paterno clarifies the situation addressing both players' situations in a press conference this morning at the Quorum Hotel in Tampa. See what he had to say.

Joe Paterno, in a press conference this morning at the Quorum Hotel in Tampa, spoke about running back Austin Scott's situation of being sent home from Tampa recently, saying, "He has some family things going on."

Scott flew back to earlier this week and is "with his family" according to Paterno to deal with some personal issues. As Paterno went on to explain, "He is redshirting [this year] and there was no need for him to be down here."

Safety Spencer Ridenhour was also sent home from the bowl for breaking an unspecified team rule. As Paterno said, "Spencer got involved with some things he should not have, but he'll be alright for next year."

Paterno and his staff have set a zero-tolerance policy related to team rules and are expecting his players to show personal responsibility for their actions. The team has not have a curfew in Tampa, but Paterno and his team are expecting the players to show good judgement and responsibility.

As we first reported last week Ed Johnson did not make the trip to Tampa and was suspended for violating an unspecified team rule.
