Crunch Time For Moye

Traditional rivals Penn State and Pitt have not met on the gridiron since 2000. But every year, the Nittany Lions and Panthers have at it for a few recruits on the recruiting trail. This year is no different, as Rochester, Pa., receiver Derek Moye is deciding between the two Eastern programs.

“It's going to be tough, but I'm going to make my decision sometime next week,” Derek Moye said. “I'm still torn between Pitt and Penn State.”

Scout.com ranks the 6-foot-5, 180-pound prospect a four-star recruit and the 57th best receiver in the nation.

“[PSU assistant] Coach [Mike] McQueary came to see my basketball practice last week and we had a chance to talk about Penn State,” Moye said. “I went to the Pitt-Georgetown [basketball] game last Saturday. It gave me a chance to spend some time there with their coaches and recruits.

“I have to sit down and lay out what I like about both schools,” he added. “It's going to be a really tough decision. I can't go wrong either way, but I want to make a choice that best fits me.”

Moye rushed for 1,000 yards on 141 attempts, caught 15 passes for 350 yards and scored 29 touchdowns in 2006.
