The trip went real well, Okoli said. I got the opportunity to meet with Coach Joe Paterno one-on-one at his house to talk about some serious questions that I had. It was quite an experience meeting with a coaching legend like him.
The other highlight of Okoli's visit was some film session time with defensive line coach Larry Johnson
I got to spend some time with Coach Larry Johnson where we watched film of the defensive line in practice and in drills, Okoli said. We also watched some film of Tamba Hali which was real exciting.
Okoli got to meet a few of the current Penn State players as well this weekend, including his host Terrell Golden.
Terrell Golden was my host, he was a real good guy and he is from down my way at Lake Taylor High so we had a lot of common things to talk about, Okoli said. I also met a few other players like Jordan Norwood and a few of the other receivers and Elijah Robinson as well.
Okoli also met up with one future Nittany Lion as verbal commitment Joe Suhey was making his official visit to Penn State this weekend.
I hung out with Joey Suhey a bit as well, he is a running back, Okoli said. His dad played fullback for the Chicago Bears blocking for Walter Peyton so that was pretty cool.
Okoli also commented on his future plans as signing day approaches.
I really enjoyed my visit and I still have Penn State right at the top with Virginia Tech, Okoli said. I may visit Clemson this weekend but I'm not sure on that yet. I want to make my decision before signing day and I'm not sure if I will have a press conference. I am not a press conference kind of guy, but we will see.
Okoli isn't sure when he might be visited by coaches in the near future but he did indicated that Penn State informed him of one coach that may stop by.
Coach Bill Kenney said he might come down this week, but other than that I don't have any other visits planned, Okoli said.
Look for more on Okoli in the coming weeks as a decision should be coming soon.
NOTE: Chimaeze Okoli is pronounced CHEE-MAY-ez-EE OH-COOL-EE. Most people call him CHEE-MA for short.
