Alexander Talks Penn State

Altoona, Pa., running back/wide receiver A.J. Alexander has been no stranger to scholarship offers already this year. Alexander had offers from Louisville, Temple, Maryland, Pittsburgh and Iowa. He also added two more offers recently with at least one more on the way. Find out where Alexander will be in the coming months and his expectations as the recruiting process goes on.

Altoona, Pa., running back/wide receiver A.J. Alexander picked up two more offers recently to add to a growing list. "Rutgers and Virginia Tech offered me recently," Alexander said.

The 5-foot-10, 195-pound product of Altoona Area High School recently attended a junior day at Rutgers last weekend as well. "Rutgers was really nice, I was impressed," Alexander said. "I didn't think that it would be that nice but their facilities were impressive. The RAC was really nice too. We went to their basketball game for the first half to see the football team get announced at halftime."

Alexander also expects one more written offer at some point this week. "I talked to Penn State coach Mike McQueary and he told me that they just sent out a batch of written scholarship offers this week, so I should get mine by Thursday or Friday," Alexander said.

Alexander is planning on taking a few more visits down the road as well. "I am going to Pittsburgh for their junior day this weekend," Alexander said. "I may also go to the Maryland junior day the weekend after, but I haven't confirmed that yet, my coach just told me about it. After that, I am considering going to the Virginia Tech spring game, but I may not be able to make it with track. They said that if I can't make it, they can set up a time for another visit. Virginia is another school that I might try to get to. Also, Penn State has junior days on March 24th and 31st, but I have track commitments on those days so I have to set up another day with them as well which could be anytime since I live so close."

Alexander also indicated that he may take a few visits down south this summer as well. "I definitely want to go see Georgia again this summer," Alexander said. "I am also planning on going to see Florida and maybe Florida State."

Alexander also commented on a few other schools that he wants to go see. "I really want to see LSU, I really like them," Alexander said. "I haven't talked to anyone from LSU yet, but I've always been a fan of SEC football so I wanted to see them."

Alexander had previously indicated that he would go through the whole recruiting process and take all of his visits, but that may no longer be the case. "I don't know about taking all five visits," Alexander said. "I definitely want to take visits to LSU and Georgia to see what they are like."

Finally, Alexander commented on a few friends that he has already made in the recruiting trail. "I talk with Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg, Pa.) running back Chris Henderson all the time," Alexander said. "We have a lot of the same schools of interest, he may even go to the Pitt junior day this weekend with me. I also met Tony Morgan from North Carolina when I went down there in 9th grade. I just saw that he got a few offers the other day so that is cool to see a guy I know from then getting offers."

Look for more on Alexander in the coming weeks as he expects more offers to come and he will be one of the top prospects in the East for next year.
