Special Delivery For Alexander

After four days with little or no mail, A.J. Alexander became a bit alarmed. But now that the weather has cleared up in Pennsylvania and President's Day is behind us, the U.S. Postal Service is back at full force. Alexander estimated he received more than 200 pieces of mail Tuesday, including a key offer he'd been awaiting.

Alexander, a 5-foot-10, 195-pounder from Altoona, was pleased to hear from nearby Penn State.

“I got my official offer in the mail from Penn State today,” Alexander said. “I was pretty excited, I called [assistant coach Mike] McQueary after I got it. He said that's great, now all I need to do is commit. He wanted to know when I was going to bring my family to see the school. I'm going to try and set up a day in the next two weeks to go there. I can't go to any Junior Days because I have track meets when the Junior Days are scheduled. Coach McQueary said they are looking forward to seeing me again.”

Alexander also received word recently that another one of his favorite schools will be offering him a scholarship.

“I spoke to (Mark) Richt and (Dave) Johnson from Georgia on Friday and they said they sent an offer, so I should be getting that soon,” he said. “I'm also going to try and visit Pittsburgh in the next few weeks.”

Alexander plays quarterback at Altoona but many feel his best fit at the college level will be at receiver or safety.
