The 6-foot-5, 210-pound product of Bayside High already holds offers from Florida International, Virginia, Maryland, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Duke and Marshall. Manuel is also hearing from several other schools and has named a favorite at this point.

QB Virginia Beach, Va., quarterback E.J. Manuel is a name fans will be hearing about for months to come this recruiting season. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound product of Bayside High already holds seven offers with several other suitors in hot pursuit.

“I have offers from Florida International, Virginia, Maryland, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Duke and Marshall,” Manuel said. “I am also hearing a lot of interest from Miami, North Carolina State, UCLA, Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, LSU, UConn and Penn State. Most of the schools on the East Coast have interest.”

Manuel does have a leader in the early going.

“My favorite is Maryland,” Manuel said. “I was up at their Junior Day a few weekends ago when they played Duke in basketball,” Manuel said. “They are only three hours away and I think Coach (Ralph) Friedgen and Coach (Tom) Brattan are good guys. They don't blow my head up too big and I believe they have my best interests at hand. They also talk to me the most along with Virginia and Duke.”

Manuel plans to be busy this spring and fall with trips to various schools all over the East Coast.

“I went to Virginia for their Junior Day and North Carolina State,” Manuel said. “I am going to a Junior Day at Oscar Smith High School March 3. It won't be a workout-type atmosphere, just an information session. I will also visit Miami if they offer and while I am down there I would probably check out Florida International. I will really try to get out and see all the schools that offer me this spring and summer.”

Manuel also has one more visit planned.

“I will probably be attending the Penn State Junior Day in late March,” Manuel said. “I get mail from them all the time and I text message with Coach Bill Kenney. They have a good chance along with some other teams. Penn State has had some success with athletic quarterbacks in the past so that is a benefit.”

Manuel will be putting his measurables up against several other high school prospects March 10. “I will be attending the combine in Baltimore,” he said.

Look for more on Manuel as we check in after some spring visits.
