FOS Recruiting Chat Recap

Fight On State recruiting analyst Cory James hosted a recruiting chat last night with FOS premium members and gave PSU-related updates on a wide array of prospects, including Deion Walker, E.J. Manuel, Andrew Sweat and Michael Mauti, among several others. He also reveals some new offers the Nittany Lion staff has extended recently.

Here are Cory James' recap notes from the PSU recruiting chat he hosted on Tuesday evening:

  • Penn State has offered New Jersey safety Will Hill. It is not exactly clear when the offer came from PSU. Currently Hill he has 65 offers and has pinned all of them to the wall of his room. PSU is visiting his school either Wednesday or Thursday of this week. I plan to follow up with him later this week to find out who came to visit from PSU and how things went. I was was surprisingly encouraged by his interest in PSU. Hill will try to visit schools starting in June. He indicated PSU is among his top schools, which currently number upwards of nine.

  • Delaware Defense End Leon Mackey, PA wideout A.J. Alexander and VA QB E.J. Manuel are all confirmed to be in attendance this weekend at the PSU Nike Camp.

  • E.J. Manuel received an offer from the Nittany Lions last week.

  • Spoke with E.J. Manuel tonight and he will name his top 10 on May 16. I expect PSU to be in the running. He is very close with Deion Walker and I was surprised at his interest in PSU as well.

  • Spoke with Deion Walker this evening and he unofficially said that if he had to name a leader right now, its PSU.

  • Spoke to a recruit that went out after the combine Sunday with Andrew Sweat and he said that Sweat told him that he changes his mind on where he will go to school daily. He only mentioned Florida, Notre Dame, and Ohio State to this recruit. This one might be interesting. The recruit that I spoke with said he thought OSU would be Sweat's choice.

  • Spoke with LB Mike Mauti this evening as well. He indicated that he got his PSU offer on Sunday. It had a written message attached from Joe Paterno reading "I dont know if I can handle another Mauti." Mike was cracking up about this comment. He will visit PSU in June for the Senior camps. He likes OU, Florida, and PSU right now, but indicates he is wide open at this point.
