Speedy Athlete Visits PSU

Ardon Bransford, a talented athlete from Harrisburg, PA, attended the Nittany Lions' game Saturday verses the Huskers. He names the teams most interested.

Name: Ardon Bransford
Position: CB, RB, WR
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 175 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.35
School: Central Dauphin SHS, Harrisburg, PA

Ardon plays running back, cornerback and even some wide-receiver for Central Dauphin.  He is primarily being recruited to play cornerback at the college level, although Hofstra is recruiting him to play running back.

Ardon does not yet have any scholarship offers, but it won't be long before he does.

"Vanderbilt, Maryland, Purdue, Virginia, Penn State, West Virginia and Hofstra are some of the teams interested," Ardon said.

Which teams are showing the most interest?

"Vanderbilt's really interested, Purdue's up there, Hofstra's interested.  None of them have given me an offer, so I guess the recruiting game is still open to me."

A few schools have called Ardon this month.

"Vanderbilt and Hofstra called me.  I think West Virginia called me, but I wasn't home."

Bransford lists several favorites.

"I want to stay somewhere near home, so of course it would probably be Maryland, Purdue, West Virginia, Virginia, Penn State and Hofstra maybe.

"I went to Maryland in the summer for one of their camps and I also visited for a recruiting day.  I was at Penn State for the Nike Camp.  I also went up for a 7-on-7 camp with my team and then I stayed after and did a tour with Brent Wise (his teammate who plays wide-receiver).

"I went there Saturday for the game too.  I went with my dad and my brother.  Brent Wise took Tom Stone who also plays on our team (defensive-end).  Penn State's recruiting Brent, but I'm not sure if they're recruiting Tom."

It was Ardon's first game at Beaver Stadium.

"I've been to a few in the past.  That was first time actually being on the field.  As soon as I stepped on the grass I had a rush.  It was crazy to see all the fans in the stands.  I wanted to play out  there myself.  It was a lot of fun.

"I spoke to Coach Johnson, Ganter and Joe Paterno for a little bit."

Ardon is unsure how interested Penn State is in him.

Central Dauphin is currently 3-0 so far this season.

"I had a 2nd degree sprain in my ankle in the second game, so I'm not 100%, but I'm working to get back there.  I haven't rushed that many times this year.  I did alright in the first game.  I had 239 all-purpose yards."
