Coaches vs. Cancer Golf Tournament Scores

University Park, Pa., June 11, 2007 – The 11th Annual Coaches Vs. Cancer Celebrity Golf Tournament headed by Penn State coach Ed DeChellis was a huge success under crystal blue skies at the Penn State Blue and White courses. The event, hosted by the Nittany Lion Hoops Club and tournament sponsor Sheetz, Inc., had 71 five-somes and over 350 golfers, the biggest field in the tournament's history.

The highly anticipated tournament doubled in size from just two years ago and raised a record contribution of more than $175,000 to help cancer victims, much of which will stay in Centre County and offer direct support to cancer victims and the organizations that assist them.

"We are really excited and delighted with the tremendous support of our sponsors, celebrities and the community which has allowed Penn State's Coaches Vs. Cancer organization to grow and continue to assist so many people affected by cancer," DeChellis. "We have a very dedicated committee that has worked extremely hard to put on a first-class event which continues to get better every year."

Numerous sports celebrities took part, including numerous former Nittany Lion standouts. Among them will be: Rahsaan Carlton, Gyasi Cline-Heard, Tom Daley, Mark DuMars, Dan Earl, Curtis Johnson, Pete Lisicky, Glenn Sekunda, Tyler Smith and many more. The Penn State basketball coaching staff, several Nittany Lion head coaches and other celebrities from the world of sports were also be part of the event, which has now exceed a total of $900,000 in funds raised for the American Cancer Society.

The team of Jack Infield, Paul Tomczuk, Andy Friberg, Larry Walker and Tom Daley posted an 18-under 54 to take first place gross in a match of cards over the team of Jeff Mulligan, Greg Mullins, Bob Reisinger, Steve Seigfried and John Skorupan (also posting a 54) on the Blue Course. The team of Tim Loomis, D. Pastorkovich, Mike Shanahan, Brian Shanahan and Hilliary Scott won first place net also posting an 18-under 54.

The team of Steve Brame, Jeff Fisher, Brooks Fisher, Ange Montovino and Josh Trimble won first place gross on the White course posting a 20-under par 52. The team of Rich Heimer, Todd Kresge, Brent Lapour, Mark Tygel and Jeff Brown won the net on the White with an 18-under 54.

DeChellis, a cancer survivor in his fifth year leading the event, was named the 2006 Coaches vs. Cancer Man of the Year by the national organization.
