After his team's victory Friday night, Ryan made the 12-hour drive to State College with Penn State wide-receiver Kinta Palmer's parents.
"It was fun, I liked it a lot up there," Ryan said. "All the people up there, it was surprising. I didn't think their team was that good, but they were. They beat Nebraska 40-7. I was surprised they beat them that bad.
"It was my first time up there. I didn't really get a tour, but I did get to see the Hall of Fame Room. I loved the sights and everything.
"The campus was pretty big. It was something like Clemson, but a better Clemson. They had more sights and stuff like that and it's a bigger city.
"I got to talk to all of the coaches and Joe Paterno too.
"Coach Carter said that wherever I decide to go is fine, but they just want me to know that they want me and are going to try their best to recruit me."
Did Penn State impress Ryan?
"Well, somewhat yes, but that was only one game. It depends on how they do the whole season.
"My favorites are basically the same right now. I like South Carolina, Florida, Penn State, Nebraska, Tennessee, North Carolina and North Carolina State. I like Miami too. I'm looking at everyone right now.
"This weekend I'm trying to go to the South Carolina game against Temple."
