PSU's Top 10 Rank

Monday Scout released their early team rankings for top recruiting class, although these rankings will shift quite a bit between now and Letter Of Intent Day, see where the Nittany Lions are currently with four prospects in the Class of 2008.

As we continually say here on FOS, the best way to look at the recruit rankings of teams is by the average stars per prospect, given that different teams are at different stages of their recruiting for the Class of 2008. It doesn't make sense to penalize a team for the number of pledges they have in July, which is essentially penalizing them for their prospects not having made a decision yet.

With four commitments to their Class of 2008 (Matt Stankiewitch, Michael Zordich, Michael Mauti and Mike Yancich) PSU ranks No. 26 nationally by Scout's total points ranking -- a scoring system which looks at the number of commitments to a program and their respective star rating. However, if you look at the more objective rating of average stars per commitment, Penn State moves up to No. 10, tied with Texas and Florida.
