Painter Draws Up Plans

Norfolk, Va., offensive tackle prospect Vinston Painter has had a quiet summer in regard to recruiting. It is not due to a lack of offers, but a focus on training for the upcoming season. See where Penn State and other schools stand with Painter.

“I didn't really go on any visits or go to any camps this summer,” Painter said. “I have just been focusing on staying in shape and lifting.”

The 6-foot-5, 309-pound Painter has not forgotten about his college suitors, however. He will be taking all five of his official visits this fall

“I am going to narrow my list down to five at some point in July,” Painter said. “I have three that are pretty much locks for me to visit in Florida, Virginia Tech and Penn State. I want to be able to go to those places and have my parents see what I have seen.”

Painter has remained in close contact with several schools throughout the summer, which has helped to make up for the lack of visits.

“I talk to Coach Bill Kenney almost every day from Penn State,” Painter said. “I also have spoken to Coach Joe Paterno a few times. I also speak every day with coaches from Virginia Tech, Florida, Miami, Maryland, Georgia and every now and then with North Carolina.”

Painter seems to have a plan for action when it comes to a timeframe of when to make a decision.

“I will be taking all five of my official visits this fall and then I will hopefully make a decision in January,” Painter said. “I will be announcing at the U.S. Army All-American game if I am chosen to play.”
