Cory's Recruiting Chat Wrap

Cory James broke some major Penn State recruiting news Thursday night in his regular PSU Recruiting Chat. Get a recap of Cory's reports on several Nittany Lion prospects, including A.J. Alexander, Will Hill and Deion Walker.

Here is a recap of Cory James' PSU Recruiting Chat from Thursday evening:

A.J. Alexander: Alexander indicated that he has de-committed from Florida State and is now planning on opening his recruitment back up for five schools: Florida State, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.

Alexander indicated that he felt that he made his initial decision too quickly and it may have been a little bit of a knee-jerk reaction to the visit that he had to Florida State. He discussed it with his mother and they recalled how excited he was after every school visit that he has taken.

This seems to be great news for the Nittany Lions as they finished second in the Alexander sweepstakes the first time around and you rarely see a recruit decommit and then recommit to the same school.

Will Hill: I spoke with Hill and his coach, Rich Hansen. They indicated that Penn State was among the final eight schools in the running for his services. Hill is taking an unofficial visit to Florida in the coming weeks and that will be his last unofficial before the season starts.

Hill will narrow his list down to five schools and take all five official visits before making a decision. Hill still has not decided if those official visits will be during the season or after the season as he focuses on his senior season. At some point, Hill will sit down with Coach Hansen and map out his five official visits.

Deion Walker: I spoke with Walker this evening and he was on his way from LSU to Auburn as we spoke. Walker is continuing his tour of the southern schools on his list after checking out Florida and Florida State.

Walker indicated that while he had a great visit to Florida State that boosted them up in his eyes, he had no thoughts of verbally committing on his visit. Walker stated that he understood why his close friend and recent FSU verbal, E.J. Manuel, had committed early; but Walker wanted more than that. Walker wants to feel comfortable with everything about the school that he chooses. Walker indicated that he will narrow things down to a final ten schools by the end of the month.

Walker gave a sneak peek at that list of ten, saying that Florida, Florida State, LSU, USC, Penn State, and Michigan were all locks to be on that final list.
