FOS TV: Tom McEowen

Where does the defensive tackle stand as he comes back from a torn ACL? The redshirt freshman talked to us about that and more at the Penn State Uplifting Athletes' Lift For Life Challenge.

For all the talk of the young talent Penn State has stockpiled at defensive tackle, one key name tends to be overlooked — Tom McEowen.

Fans seem to forget that as a true freshman in 2006, McEowen actually saw the field before fellow rookies Phillip Taylor and Abe Koroma. In fact, while he's receiving great press now, Koroma didn't play a snap in '06 because he took a redshirt.

McEowen, as it turns out, redshirted, too, thanks to an ankle injury. The handful of snaps he received against Northwestern were his only action of the year.

It was more bad news in January, when he tore the ACL in his right knee during conditioning. The injury caused him to miss the rest of winter workouts and all of spring practice.

Where does McEowen stand as the preseason approaches and how does he see himself fitting into the defensive tackle mix? We asked him those question and more in the interview below.
