Bennett Eyes PSU Visit

Virginia big man is looking to make it to Happy Valley in the near future. Who else is in the mix for the offensive lineman? Check out our update for the latest on his recruitment.

Alexandria, Va., offensive lineman Jimmy Bennett has been quiet throughout the recruiting process leading up to the football season. But the 6-foot-8, 275-pound product of West Potomac High has been keeping his eye on a few places that he would like to visit before he makes his verbal commitment.

“I really want to go to Penn State this weekend for the Notre Dame game,” Bennett said. “I like Penn State a lot and I have been telling them that I would love to go to that game since last year. I have to get back to Coach Larry Johnson to get it all set up with him yet, but that is where I will hopefully be this weekend.”

Bennett will probably only get to a few official visits this regular season as he values the commitment that he has made to his high school first and foremost.

“We play our games on Friday nights and then we have team meetings on Saturday mornings that I need to be attending,” Bennett said. “I should be able to go see Penn State this weekend since the game is on Saturday night, so it works into my schedule.”

Bennett hopes to check out some other schools this fall if his schedule permits.

“Right now I like Penn State, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Boston College and UConn,” Bennett said. “I want to visit Penn State this weekend and I would like to visit UConn and Virginia Tech before I make my decision.”

Bennett has not set up a firm timetable for when he will make his decision, but he has a few dates in mind.

“I would like to make my decision either at the end of our regular season or the end of our playoffs,” Bennett said. “It really depends on when I feel comfortable.”
