Will Star QB Visit?

Chris Leak is rated the #2 quarterback prospect in the nation by TheInsiders.com. How interested is Chris in the Nittany Lions? Will he visit State College?

Name: Chris Leak
Position: QB
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 210 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.6
School: Independence HS, Charlotte, NC

It has been reported that Chris will take an official visit to Penn State this month.

"He's trying to get one set up," his father Curtis Leak said this past Thursday evening.  "They've got to get the details worked out.  He's trying to get it on the 19th.  They said they'd like for him to come up at that time.  We haven't gotten the itinerary, so we're just waiting here."

Assuming the details get worked out (if they haven't been already), Chris will be taking the visit by himself.

"He's going to take all his visits on his own and when he goes back to revisit some of the places he's been before, his mother and I will go with him."

What's got Chris interested in Penn State?

"Joe Paterno.  He met him in '98 when Joe was down here recruiting his brother.  He was at the house and C.J.'s school.  He's a super guy."

Curtis Leak indicated that Penn State has offered Chris a scholarship.

"Penn State would be good for Chris.  They've got a great tradition there and a great coach.  I didn't think he'd still be there, but they're lucky to still have him.

"We saw them against Iowa and they play some ball.  I'll tell you what, the way he's got that offense clicking now and that defense giving the offense the ball, guys can get in there and make plays.

"Chris likes Penn State really, he really likes Penn State."

Curtis Leak has been to State College.

"That's a great place.  The stadium's bigger I hear.  It was very impressive.  It's even more impressive now with the facilities.  When we were there, they were building the new weight room and the new facility.  I tell you, with that indoor facility and everything, that would be a great place for him to be."

Chris, however, favors Tennessee right now.

"Well, he's more familiar with Tennessee.  He's been going there for about 6 years now.  He hasn't looked at anywhere else.  He's keeping his options open.  Tennessee's his leader."

Chris does not have any other official visits set up yet.

"We want him to look at all the schools and make his decision."
