Nick measured 6'4 1/2" at the Penn State Nike Camp in April and weighed in at 203 pounds. He also ran the 40-yard dash in 4.66 seconds, bench pressed 185 pounds 25 times and jumped 32.1" in the vertical jump, all impressive numbers.
Stefanow now weighs a little over 215 pounds and is being recruited to play tight-end in college.
He currently has scholarship offers from Purdue, Duke and Ohio University. Nick also named Penn State, Virginia, Northwestern and Stanford as some other teams recruiting him hard.
Of those schools, he has visited Penn State, Virginia, Purdue and Ohio.
"I'm going to fly down to Duke in two weeks for an unofficial visit," Nick said.
Stefanow does not really have a favorite team at this time.
"No, not really, I still have to visit Duke, so I'll get a better picture after that."
The athletic tight-end is very interested in Penn State.
"I went to a game there against Iowa and they call regularly. They're just saying that they're kind of waiting for the okay from Joe. They say they have me at number one, but I don't know."
Penn State coaches Kenny Carter and Bill Kenney have kept in regular contact with Nick.
"I like the great atmosphere and great tradition at Penn State. The facilities are great. They do a lot of stuff right. I love the coaches too.
"They want to try to get the tight end down the field more and that's why they're looking at me primarily, a guy they can spread out from the tight end position a little bit more, make it more versatile."
The game against Iowa was actually his second Penn State game this season. Nick also attended the Penn State game verses Central Florida. He was not at the Nebraska game because he had a game that night.
Nick does not have a timetable for a final decision.
"I still haven't scheduled any officials. I'm kind of looking at some dates, but I'm not exactly sure yet. I've been invited by Duke, Northwestern and Ohio U. Those are the ones that have given me dates."
