Golden Favors Two

Terrell Golden, a wide-receiver from Lake Taylor HS in Virginia that impressed at Penn State's camp this summer, has received several scholarship offers and names 2 favorites from his top 5.

Name: Terrell Golden
Position: WR, LB
Height: 6'3 1/2"
Weight: 205 pounds
40-yard dash:

4.32 (at Penn State's camp)

Bench Press: 270 pounds

Lake Taylor is currently 4-1.  Terrell Golden has been instrumental in the team's success this season.

"I have 16 catches for 388 yards and 5 touchdowns," Terrell said.

Although Golden plays both wide-receiver and outside linebacker, all of his favorites are recruiting him to play wide-receiver in college.

"Penn State, Virginia Tech, Maryland, NC State and Tennessee are my top 5."

Those five plus Boston College and West Virginia have offered him a scholarship.  Though he has narrowed the field down to five teams, two stand out as his favorites right now.

"Right now, it's like a tie between Virginia Tech and Penn State."

Golden has seen both schools.

"I've been to Virginia Tech and Penn State, but not for official visits.  I went to a football camp at Penn State and I went to Virginia Tech for a photo shoot."

Terrell does not have any visits scheduled at this point.  He will take his 5 official visits to the top 5 schools he named and plans to wait until signing day to announce his final decision.

Penn State:  "I know they're losing Bryant Johnson.  I think he's they're best wide-receiver right now.  Tony Johnson is going to be gone after next year, so they're looking for some young guys to come in and help.

"I've talked to Bill Kenney and Kenny Carter.  They call just about once a week.

"I like the atmosphere up there.  Everything's done as a family, everything's together and I like that.  When I went up there, I saw the guys, I guess some were up there for summer school, but they were all just hanging out together.  Everytime I saw them, there was never one person walking off somewhere by himself.  They were
always together.

"I liked the campus too.

"They told me they were going to go with more 3-wide and 4-wide sets the
next couple of years.

"I saw when they played Nebraska.  I really enjoyed that game, some big catches were made in that game.  I also saw the game they lost in overtime against Iowa.  I liked that game because they never gave up.  They were down big, but in the second half they came out determined.  They almost won it."

Virginia Tech:  "They have an awesome program.  It's a very nice school also.  They are both very good schools academically.  They have a quarterback that I
already know of (Bryan Randall) there and they have Marcus Vick in the wings and
I've seen him play before.  He's pretty good.  It's nice to have a good trigger man when you're there trying to get the ball."
