Zordich Named MVP

Future Nittany Lion Michael Zordich had a stellar performance in Friday evenings Offense-Defense All-Star Game in Florida; enough so that it earned him overall MVP honors for the game.

The Offense-Defense All-Star Game featured several future Penn Staters, including Michael Shaw, Brandon Beachum and Mike Yancich, but it was future Nittany Lion Michael Zordich who stole the spotlight with a game changing performance.

On fourth and one yard situation on the West Squad's own 40-yard line, the offense decided to go for the first down, down 6-0. On the snap, Zordich knifed into the backfield stripping the ball from fullback Sausan Shakerin. If that weren't enough, Zordich scooped up the ball and ran it back for a touchdown, putting the East Team up 12-0. Future teammate Mike Yancich was also instrumental in the play, helping to disrupt the hand-off and jar loose the ball.

This was just one play in a string of impressive defensive sparks caused by Zordich. On several occasions throughout the game he was in the backfield, disrupting plays and causing breakdowns for the West.

His performance earned him overall MVP honors for the All-Star Game, which ended with an 12-8 East victory.

Brandon Beachum also had some impressive plays in the clash and due to the rain throughout the game, Michael Shaw was a key offensive weapon on the ground for the East, serving as a big-play back.
