Future Lions Report

A synopsis of how the high school seniors who have already verbally accepted a scholarship offer to play football at Penn State performed this past weekend.

Jason Evans:

Jason's impressive performance on offense, defense and special teams helped visiting Harrison (8-0) defeat Kennesaw Mountain (2-5) by a score of 20-6.

Evans carried the ball 19 times for 84 yards, not including a 72-yard run which was called back as a result of a holding penalty.

He also added 52 yards receiving and a kick return of 65 yards.

On defense, Jason had 8 tackles including one that took out the opposition's quarterback.  He also had three pass break-ups on deep balls.

Harrison has a bye week this week.

Paul Posluszny:

Paul returned to the field after missing the last 2 games with an injured ankle.

"I just had a high ankle sprain," Paul explained.  "I played on Friday.  It felt great.  It's back to 100 percent."

Posluszny helped Hopewell (8-1) shutout Moon (4-5) by a score of 10-0.

"[My stats] weren't anything spectacular.  It was real muddy and the field was all torn up.  I would say I had around 12 carries for 80 yards.  I'm not sure about defense.

"My coach just started me out on offense to see how my ankle would feel because it was my first game back.  It felt pretty good, so I think it was the 2nd quarter when I started playing defense.

"We're 8-1.  We'll get a pretty good seed in the playoffs and we should do well."

Notes: Posluszny talks to Coach Bradley every Wednesday or Thursday night.  He has only attended one Penn State game so far this year.

"I was up when they played Nebraska.  I thought it was great.  That atmosphere was nuts.  I definitely can't wait to play there.  I really want to try to go when they play Michigan State."

Austin Scott:

According to the The Morning Call, Austin ran for 402 yards on just 18 carries (22.3 yards per carry) and scored 6 touchdowns as Parkland (8-1) defeated Bethlehem Freedom (6-3) by a score of 49-13.

He scored 4 touchdowns on consecutive carries during the second half with runs of 55, 55, 68 and 70 yards.

Austin has now rushed for 2,321 yards and has scored 32 touchdowns this season.

John Shaw:

Visiting Spring Grove (8-1) defeated William Penn (1-8) by a score of 22-0.

"I was in on 10 tackles," Shaw said. "I had 5 solos, no sacks, but I had 2 tackles for a loss.  I picked up a fumble on offense.  Our running back fumbled it and I picked it up and ran it for 45 yards.  I almost got a touchdown.  Two kids had a good angle on me and they got me right before I got to the endzone.  I think they got me at the 10.  I saw the endzone, I wanted it.

"We have one more game next week (Susquehannock).  We're hoping to get in the playoffs."

Note: John has been to every Penn State home game this year and plans to attend the Illinois game this weekend.
