Fast Times For King

Former Nittany Lion defensive back wows scouts by blazing through the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

When Penn State defensive back Justin King opted to bypass his senior season to declare for the 2008 NFL Draft, many wondered if he was ready to make the big move.

Tuesday morning at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, he proved that he is fast enough to take it to the next level.

King turned in an official 40-yard dash time of 4.37 seconds on his first run. He reduced that to 4.31 seconds on his second run.

An NFL scout who was in contact with's Bob Lichtenfels reported that he timed both of King's runs on three different watches. And the times came in as follows:

Run 1: 4.29, 4.30, 4.33
Run 2: 4.27, 4.29, 4.30

The scout asked not to be identified.

King prepared for the Combine at the Athletes' Performance Institute in Arizona, and Lichtenfels reports that the times he turned in Tuesday were consistent with what he had been running at API.
