Andre ran for over a thousand yards as a sophomore even though he started in only about half of Seton Hall's games that year. As a junior, he had 1,772 yards in 9 games for 24 touchdowns, averaging 9.7 yards per carry.
"I have around 1,400 yards so far this year and I have 10 touchdowns," Andre said.
Seton Hall Prep is currently 4-3.
Callender also spent some time in the defensive backfield this season.
"The first 2 games I played defense (cornerback), I played both ways. After that, I only played offense the rest of the games."
Some schools including Michigan and Ohio State have been recruiting him to play cornerback. Andre's favorites, however, are recruiting him to play running back.
"I like Penn State, Michigan State, Boston College, Clemson and North Carolina."
Those schools plus about 10 others have offered Andre a scholarship.
"Penn State, Michigan State and Boston College are probably my top 3."
Callender is not deterred by the head coaching change in progress at Michigan State.
"It's not going to affect whether or not I go to Michigan State."
Of his favorites, Andre has unofficially visited only Penn State and Boston College.
"I visited Penn State over the summer and I went to Boston College for their game verses Navy."
His unofficial visit to Penn State was in July with his coach, the day before one of Penn State's recruiting days.
"I know that 2 running backs have already committed (to Penn State), but anywhere I go I'm still going to have to compete.
"Penn State has a great tradition. I like the facilities they have for the football team, the big weight room and stuff like that. I was impressed with all they have there."
The talented athlete will most likely take his 5 official visits to his favorites. He does not yet have any visits set up.
