PSU Mini-Camp Reports

Get an update on how Penn State rookies around the league are faring as they get their first taste of NFL play in mini-camp sessions.

Several former Nittany Lions have taken to the NFL practice fields during recent mini-camp sessions to get their first taste of pro-level play. See how the former Penn State players are progressing.

Dan Connor, LB, Carolina Panthers: Connor got into his first action with the Carolina Panthers during their recent mini-camp sessions. Friday he saw the bulk of his reps at the middle linebacker spot and got work with the second and third teams in the session. Some mini-camp observers say Connor looked really put together. He showed good instincts and really pushed himself in the limited time they saw him. He also made some nice reads considering he really has not had the chance to get into the playbook yet. They particularly liked what he showed on coverage reads.

Rodney Kinlaw, RB, Detroit Lions: Kinlaw was one of 32 players invited to tryout at last weekend's mini-camp with the Detroit Lions. As of this report Kinlaw's status with the tryout was still up in the air.

Terrell Golden, WR, Philadelphia Eagles: Golden signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent during the last week of April. Golden talked about the move, saying, "I feel great. I really believe I can make an impact [on the Eagles]." Golden signed an non-guaranteed three-year deal with Philadelphia. Golden has some stiff competition at wideout, but the coaches like his size and he has shown some consistency catching the ball through mini-camp.

Matt Hahn, RB, Oakland Raiders: After sustaining an ACL tear last season, Hahn fought his way back to recovery and impressed the Raiders' staff enough to recently sign on as an undrafted free agent. Hahn reportedly showed good speed and agility in the Raiders mini-camp, so it will be interesting to keep an eye on his progress.

Justin King, CB, St. Louis Rams: King will not see his first mini-camp action until the Rams hold their mini-camp session from May 9-11.

Anthony Morelli, QB, Arizona Cardinals: Morelli signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cardinals. Through mini-camp he saw third-team reps behind Matt Leinart and Curt Warner. Morelli is in a battle for the third spot on the depth chart with Brian St. Pierre. According to Scout's Cardinal site, "St. Pierre has the inside track, as he understands [Ken] Whisenhunt's offensive philosophy from their time together in Pittsburgh. Undrafted free agent QB Anthony Morelli struggled at times during practice and looks to be a long-shot to make the roster."

Austin Scott, RB, Cleveland Browns: Scott was among seven players out of a total 54 invited prospects who were signed to the Cleveland Brown's roster. The former Nittany Lion was signed to a one-year deal. Scott impressed the coaches with his speed and shiftiness in drills and reportedly came to the tryout in impressive shape. As a sidenote, former PSU defensive back Alan Zemaitis was also at the tryout, but did not make the cut.
