Evans on Nagurski Watch List

Penn State's standout defensive end Maurice Evans has just been named to the Bronko Nagurski watch list for the 2008 season. The Nagurski Trophy is awarded to the best defensive player in college football and sponsored by the Charlotte Touchdown Club.

The initial watch list for the Nagurski Trophy features 88 players, including Penn State's own Maurice Evans. Evans played in all 13 games during the 2007, starting in 12 of those contests. On the year he totaled 54 tackles (31 unassisted), placing him fifth on the team. Evans also had a stellar 12.5 sacks on the season and a 55-yard fumble return.

Nearly 40 percent of his tackles were for a loss last season and he also led the team in forced fumbles with five, recovering one for a 55-yard scamper.
