Virginia Offensive Lineman Picks PSU

Figueroa is the fourth known commitment for the Nittany Lions in the last week. Get the lowdown on his commitment.

The verbal commitments continue to roll in fast and furious for Penn State. After hauling in three players over the weekend, the Nittany Lions landed another Wednesday.

Frank Figueroa, an offensive lineman from Thomas Edison High in Alexandria, Va., is the seventh member of PSU's Class of 2009.

“He called them at about 9 a.m. Wednesday,” Edison assistant coach Sherman Deck said. “He is an outstanding kid.”

Figueroa checked in at about 240 pounds as a sophomore, but over the course of roughly a year he bulked up. He is now 6-foot-4, 275.

“He had a big growth spurt,” Deck said. “But it's not a sloppy 275; it's a tight 275. He's a weight room rat who loves to lift.”

Deck said Figueroa plays multiple positions along the offensive line and also long snaps.

The assistant coach added that Michigan State, Maryland, Virginia and William & Mary had been showing the most interested (outside of Penn State) in Figueroa.
