Derrick Williams gave a spark to his team with an 89-yard kickoff return that ignited his fan vote in the FOS Player of the Game vote for the Coastal Carolina game.
With two catches for 11 yards and two carries for 45 yards, senior wideout Derrick Williams
ran away with the first FightOnState.com Player of the Game honor for the 2008 season. However, it was his 89-yard TD kickoff return that gave Penn State
the spark it needed to pound ahead and likely ignited the fan vote in his favor.
With hundreds of fan votes cast, Williams landed 37% of the vote, beating out Daryll Clark, Bani Gbadyu, Stephfon Green, Aaron Maybin and Evan Royster.
The FOS Player of the Game is the first and only honor given to a Penn State football player by Nittany Lion fans. Voting is conducted exclusively at FightOnState.com after every PSU game.
