After getting carted off the field with a knee injury in the late goings of the Penn State victory over Oregon State, defensive end Jerome Hayes was visibly upset, having just recovered and returned from an ACL tear sustained from last season.

Joe Paterno discussed the injury in his posta game press conference saying that the preliminary diagnosis was a torn ACL, however they will wait for further diagnosis before deciding how to proceed with treatment.

Tom Bradley indicated that Penn State will petition the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility in the future when they are able to.
