As one observer explained, "Mike's played on both lines. He understands the details of playing inside on offense and defense, which is rare. Here's there now to help shore up depth in the short term with the recent losses the line has had. Once the depth is back, Mike will likely move back [to offense]."
"Mike can play D," another observer explained. "The [defensive] tackle position needed to shore up some depth and he fit the bill right now. If the offensive [line] needs him he can easily shift back over. Mike's the type of guy who picks up a position quickly and always has the team's interest at heart."
Over his career Lucian has seen significant stints one both lines; at defensive end, defensive tackle, right guard, left guard and center. Last season he started seven games at right guard.
