Smith Impressed by PSU Win

But was the atmosphere in Beaver Stadium Saturday night enough to cause the Maryland athlete to commit to the Nittany Lions?

Most folks figure it is only a matter of time until Maryland athlete Devon Smith commits to Penn State.

A product of Westlake High, two of his best friends -- Eleanor Roosevelt's Stephon Morris and Derrick Thomas -- are already committed to the Nittany Lions. And Smith has said from the start that PSU is one of his favorites.

Smith was on hand for Penn State's 38-24 win over Illinois at Beaver Stadium Saturday night, witnessing a rousing win before a jam-packed White House throng. Was it enough to push him over the edge?

“It was a great atmosphere,” Smith said. “Everyone was trying to get me to commit, the fans and everything. [Penn State] played really well and it was great.

“I didn't commit, though,” he added. “I am going to sit down with my coach to see who else I want to visit so I can make my decision.”

Smith did not mention other schools he might check out.
