Penn State Adds Another MD Standout

The big Penn State "White House" weekend continued to pay dividends as another prospect elects to play his college career in Happy Valley.

A product of Westlake High, two of Devon Smith's best friends -- Eleanor Roosevelt's Stephon Morris and Derrick Thomas -- are already committed to the Nittany Lions. And Smith has said from the start that PSU is one of his favorites.

Smith was on hand for Penn State's 38-24 win over Illinois at Beaver Stadium Saturday night, witnessing a rousing win before a jam-packed White House throng.

"It was a great atmosphere," Smith said. "Everyone was trying to get me to commit, the fans and everything. [Penn State] played really well and it was great.

Well, after thinking about it, Smith decided PSU was where he wants to play his college career ball.

Smith told FOS that he pledged to Penn State this morning after visiting Happy Valley this weekend for the Illinois game, saying, "Yeah, I committed to Penn State. I called Coach Johnson this morning."

Stay tuned to for continuing Penn State football recruiting coverage.
