PSU PLAYBOOK: D-Will Key Gain

The Nittany Lions used many multiple-back formations against Purdue Saturday. Here is one of them that led to a key first down on the team's first touchdown drive.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Penn State's new Spread HD offense showed even more versatility in a 20-6 win over Purdue here Saturday.

Though the Nittany Lions were held to a season low in points, it wasn't for a lack of creativity, especially early in the game. State went with several unique backfield combinations, including one where multi-purpose threat Derrick Williams lined up with tailback Evan Royster and fullback Dan Lawlor.
