Back From Penn State Visit

Joel Holler of Lancaster, PA, considered by many to be one of the top offensive line prospects in the country, just returned from an official visit to Penn State. He talks about the visit.

Name: Joel Holler
Position: OT
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 335 pounds
40-yard dash: 5.4
Bench Press: 300 pounds
School: J.P. McCaskey High, Lancaster, PA

"It was great," Holler said of his official visit to Penn State this weekend.  He took the trip to State College with his mother and father.

Redshirt freshman offensive lineman E.Z. Smith was his host.  Joel also hung around Nick Marmo, Chris McKelvy and some other linemen.

"We went to the Pitt/Penn State basketball game for a little bit."

Joel also did the usual official visit kind of things.

"We went over the academics, talked about football and where they see me.  I got to talk to all of the coaches.  They already started off a good recruiting class [on the offensive line] by getting Dan Mazan."

Joel has already visited Ohio State (11/23) and Virginia Tech (11/30).

How did the visit compare with the others?

"Pretty much the same.  I had a good time like I did everywhere else."

Joel said that he did not make a commitment.  He will visit Miami this weekend and might take a visit to Pitt later.  Joel plans to make a final decision towards the beginning of January.

Very early in the recruiting process, Joel was quoted as saying that the abundance of offensive line talent Penn State recruited in recent years concerned him some.

"It did a little bit, but now it doesn't.  They showed me what there is."

Is Penn State his leader?

"I'm not sure yet."

What does he like about Penn State?

"A lot of things, the coaches, the players and plus you get a quality education."
