PSU Looking For Another Tackle

Brandon Nixon, the huge offensive tackle from Pottstown, PA, got a visit from Penn State coach Bill Kenney last night. How interested is he in the Nittany Lions?

Name: Brandon Nixon
Position: OL
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 320 pounds
Bench Press: 365 pounds
40-yard dash: 5.15
School: Pottstown HS, Pottstown, Pa.

There have been scattered rumors that Brandon Nixon committed to Maryland.

"I didn't commit to anybody yet," Brandon said Wednesday night.

The Terrapins are his current favorite, but he plans on taking all of his visits.   He has already taken visits to North Carolina State (12/6) and Maryland (12/13).

"I didn't get the [Georgia] Tech visit set up yet.  I have visits set to Penn State and West Virginia.  Penn State is on January 17.  It was on the 10th, but it got moved.  They said the 17th would be better because the students would be in.  Not much would be going on the weekend of the 10th.  West Virginia is on January 10."

Has he heard from Penn State recently?

"Coach Kenney just left my house.  He's a good guy.  I really like Coach Kenney.  I really like Coach Kenney and Penn State."

Penn State is Brandon's second favorite team.

"Maryland is like 60% and Penn State is 40% right now."

Coach Kenney told Brandon of Penn State's latest commitment.

"He was telling me Joel Holler just committed there.  He said he wanted him to play right tackle and me at left tackle.  I was like 'that sounds pretty good'.

"He said the tackle position is going to be pretty open because they're graduating a few good tackles.  He said they're going to be losing Gus Felder, their starting left tackle, a pretty good guy who's going to the pros.

"He said there's a pretty good open spot where I'd have a chance to come in and make an impact if I have the work ethic."
