PSU Catches Kenney

State College speedster will play his college football close to home. He told Nittany Lion recruiting coordinator Mike McQueary of the news Tuesday.

Penn State's strong recruiting effort for the Class of 2010 continued Tuesday when State College (Pa.) High wideout Alex Kenney committed to the Nittany Lions.

Kenney visited campus to meet with recruiting coordinator and receivers coach Mike McQueary.

“I committed to Penn State,” he said. “It felt right to me and I made the decision. It feels great. Now I'm ready to get back with my high school team and work hard.”

One of the fastest players in the nation, Kenney is the 13th member of the class and the third wideout, joining Maryland standout Adrian Coxson and former State High teammate Levi Norwood. Norwood will play his senior season at Midland High in Waco, Texas.

“That means a lot to me,” Kenney said of re-joining Norwood at PSU. “We've been playing together since third grade, so it's going to be a pretty crazy feeling being together again.”

Kenney said with the big decision out of the way, he has two priorities now.

“Focus on football and getting better,” he explained.
