But don't look for him on the field this season.
On Tuesday night, Fentress told FOS he is no longer with the team. He said he did an internship with Nike over the summer, after which he hoped to return to Penn State for his final season of eligibility.
At that point, he said, he was told he no longer had a scholarship.
Fentress has already graduated with a degree in marketing.
He is currently living in Maryland contemplating what to do with his future. He added that he felt compelled to comment on the situation because rumors began to surface that he walked away from the program.
"It's all good," he said. "I'm most likely going back to Nike (for a full-time job). I just want people to know the truth about what happened."
A native of Chesapeake, Va., Fentress saw significant time as a backup cornerback as a true freshman in 2005. He redshirted the following year. He was a backup defensive back in 2007 before moving to receiver in 2008. Last spring, he returned to cornerback. He played special teams, mostly on the cover units, throughout his career.
