Ohioan Changes Plans

Dan Pribula, a huge offensive tackle from Strongsville, Ohio, was scheduled to take an official visit to Penn State this weekend. He has changed his plans. What has the big lineman decided to do?

Name: Dan Pribula
Position: OL
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 320 pounds
40-yard dash: 5.1
Max Bench Press: 340 pounds
School: Strongsville High School, Strongsville, OH

Per his father, Dan did not make his official visit to Penn State this weekend.

"He's made a decision that he's going to pursue a career in track at the collegiate level in shotput," Dan Pribula, Sr. said.  "He is not going to play football.  That's why he cancelled the Penn State visit.

"I would assume that they were going to offer since this was an official visit.  They hadn't, but the cancellation of the visit had nothing to do with an offer or not.  He wants to throw shotput in college.

"We made an official visit to Syracuse the first weekend of December specifically for track.  He did receive a full scholarship offer to throw shotput at Syracuse.  He has not committed yet.

"He has been trying to hook up with the throwing coach at Penn State and getting some discussion going to see what type of track opportunity would be available for him there.  There has been some initial discussion.

"Football is totally out of the picture."

Dan cancelled the visit in the middle of last week.

"He spoke with Coach [Jay] Paterno I believe it was Wednesday evening of this week.  They had played 2 or 3 days of phone tag.  Dan wanted to speak to him in person over the phone."
