PSU backup tailback Stephfon Green has been dealing with an ankle injury sustained last week against Minnesota. Get the latest on his injury situation and status for the game in Ann Arbor.

Backup running back Stephfon Green has yet to participate in significant practice drills this week and is still sidelined with the ankle injury he sustained against Minnesota last Saturday.

"[The coaches] are giving him time to recover rather than rush him into things," one observer said. "He's had previous issues with his ankles, so they want to avoid doing anything that could make it worse or recurring. It's already been a recurring issue."

On his call-in show Thursday, PSU coach Joe Paterno said Green will not make the trip to Michigan this week.

With Green sidelined Brandon Beachum and Brent Carter are still splitting the second team tailback reps, although observer consensus is that Beachum should get the nod at this point.

"He's running tough and is getting better with reads and lateral cuts in traffic. Both guys may have an opportunity though," one observer said.

According to another, "I like Brandon's aggressiveness. He can really his a hit. Brent has size, but I think he needs to just work on using it better to deliver a hit — lower that shoulder more."

Linebacker Michael Zordich has been moved to fullback, where Beachum had been. -30-
