FOS GALLERY: Numbers Game

Check out some of the shenanigans that went on at Penn State's open practice at Freedom High Wednesday.

On Monday, Penn State coach Joe Paterno called an abrupt halt to what was supposed to be an open portion of the Nittany Lions' practice, sending the media packing after less than five minutes.

Wednesday brought another open session, and this one lasted nearly 30 minutes -- or 10 minutes longer than the announced 20-minutes. But the media types were confronted with another challenge.

Instead of wearing their normal practice jerseys, the Nittany Lion players had some fun and swapped numbers and colors among each other.

Many of the offensive starters, who usually wear light blue, showed up in dark blue, which usually means a defensive starter. The same was true the other way around.

It was obvious something was up when punter Jeremy Boone, who usually wears No. 41, showed up in a green No. 78, which is normally the jersey of second-team offensive tackle Mike Farrell.
