Odrick State's Latest No. 1 Pick

Miami Dolphins take the Nittany Lion DT in the first round, continuing PSU's string of defensive line success in the NFL Draft.

Penn State may have to trade its moniker of “Linebacker U.” for a new title: “Defensive Line U.”

Thursday evening, Nittany Lion defensive tackle Jared Odrick was picked by the Miami Dolphins in the first-round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He is the sixth PSU defensive lineman to go in the first round in the past 11 years.

In that same span, the Lions have had a total of three other first-round picks from other positions.

Odrick, an All-American and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2009, finished his senior season with 43 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and a team-high seven sacks.

He was the fourth defensive tackle taken in the draft and the 28th overall selection.
