Lion Guard Battling Back

Penn State's standout will return for his senior season with a shot to break the school's longstanding scoring record.

Penn State's Talor Battle tested the NBA Draft waters and apparently did not like what he found.

Battle, who declared for the draft in April but did not sign with an agent to keep alive the option of returning to PSU for his senior season, withdrew his name from consideration Saturday. That was the deadline for making the decision.

According to Penn State sports information, Battle had a workout with the Portland Trailblazers Friday and made up his mind after the workout.

Heading into his senior season, Battle already ranks seventh on the Nittany Lions' all-time scoring list with 1,526 points. He needs 613 points next season to break Jesse Arnelle's school career scoring record, which has stood since 1955.
