The heat was dialed up on the Nittany Lions earlier this week. It was an eye-opener for many of the new faces in the program.

The Penn State football players were back at their conditioning preparations on Tuesday morning. "A lot of guys were out there at 6 a.m. and it was a brutal set of runs," one observer explained.

The session took place in Holuba Hall, which "made the guys long for hell's heat," one observer joked. There they got in a series of sprints, including three 300s, eight 110s, eight 80s and eight 50s.

"[The players] got beat up, but that's what you need to pay dividends in October," an observer explained. "Overall they look pretty good."

The Class of 2010 freshmen arrived on campus earlier this week, including Khamrone Kolb, CJ Olaniyan, Zach Zwinak, Brad Bars, Alex Kenney, Robert Bolden, DaQuan Jones, Tom Ricketts, Miles Dieffenbach, Luke Graham and Mike Hull, joining the early enrollees in their class, which included Paul Jones, Silas Redd, Kyle Baublitz, Evan Hailes, Kevin Haplea, Dakota Royer and Khairi Fortt.

Although the freshmen are not scheduled to see major runs like 300s until next week, observers predict they will be a "shock" to the recent arrivals. On the whole, although observers say Zwinak, Hull and DaQuan Jones "look the part" in terms of their build. is your source for the BEST content and community covering Penn State football.
