Help Support PSU's Lift For Life

The Penn State chapter of Uplifting Athletes will hold its annual Lift For Life event on Friday, July 9 in Holuba Hall. You can help support this great event in a variety of ways.

Now in its eighth year, Lift For Life has raised over $400,000 for the Kidney Cancer Association with a record amount of $80,000 raised in 2009.


The Lift For Life event is a strength and conditioning competition where which Penn State football players compete as teams of four in an 11 event challenge. The events include:

Leg Curl
Leg Press
Bag Jumps
Field Challenge I (100 lb. plate carry and dolly push)
Barbell Bench Press
Iron Cross
Field Challenge II (same events as Challenge I)
Tire Flip

Each event is scored by max repetitions (to failure or in a timed set) in order to award team points. No breaks are permitted between events and each competitor must compete in every event. The team with the most team points at the end of the competition is declared the Lift For Life Champion - a coveted honor for the players.

Lift For Life is open to the public with a suggested entry donation of $5 per student/child and $10 per adult. Fans will have a chance to meet and get autographs from current and former members of the Penn State Football team. The event's doors open at 1:30 pm and the event last from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
