Chestnut Talks Decision Process

Terrell Chestnut was rumored to be a silent verbal not too long ago. But does the four-star cornerback have a leader as he narrows down his list?

The nation's No. 19 cornerback and a four-star athlete from Pottstown, Pa., is getting closer to making a decision. Terrell Chestnut is narrowing down his list of programs and is hopeful to take a couple more visits this summer before announcing as soon as August before preseason camp.

It was rumored during the spring that Chestnut had been a silent verbal to a program. Not true says, the player. In fact, Chestnut says that he was nowhere near making a decision when those rumors surfaced.

"I never gave a silent verbal to anyone. I don't know where that rumor came from, but I know there was a rumor that I had — but it's not true," Chestnut told "And I never wanted to."

In-state, both Penn State and Pittsburgh are consistent in their recruiting efforts to land a verbal from the player. Chestnut said that he is in as regular communication with Penn State as his busy schedule allows. The Nittany Lions are high on his list, though, and he says he likes the program. Penn State is clearly in the mix.

"PSU is recruiting me pretty hard," Chestnut said. "Coach Mike [McQueary] is recruiting me from PSU."

McQueary, the program's recruiting coordinator, was praised by recent Penn State commit Jordan Kerner. Chestnut said that he plans to narrow down his list soon, but there is no set target number as he whittles down his list.

"There are a few schools that really stick out to me, but I'd rather keep that to me for the time being until I let out my top five or 10 or whatever I have," Chestnut said.
