Pitt Falls At Notre Dame 23-17

Pitt had two final shots within the last four minutes, but could not convert a first down, despite coming back from being down by 17 points in the second half.

Pitt fell to Notre Dame in South Bend 23-17 on Saturday afternoon, despite an improved performance from the passing game.

Notre Dame led 17-3 at the half, and took a 20-3 lead less than three minutes into the second half.

Pitt battled back thanks to a four-yard touchdown run by Sunseri in the third quarter, and a 56-yard touchdown pass to Jon Baldwin in the fourth quarter, which cut the Panther deficit to six points.

Sunseri finished the game, completing 27-of-39 passes for 272 yards, 1 touchdown pass, a touchdown on the ground and an interception. His Notre Dame counterpart Dayne Crist complete 24-of-39 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown.

Pitt outgained Notre Dame 382-329 for the game. Jon Baldwin had a game-high nine receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown. Louis Riddick, for Notre Dame had seven catches for 75 yards. Michael Floyd and seven catches for 59 yards and a touchdown for the Irish.

Pitt falls to 2-3 on the season, while Notre Dame evens itself up at 3-3. We'll have more from South Bend, following the press conferences.
