It was a jovial atmosphere following Pitt's 17-10 win over USF. The Pitt players and coaches felt USF gave them everything they could handle, as they felt a sense of relief or accomplishment after the game. Max Gruder explained the team's emotion.
"We had to win this game coming in," Gruder said. "We're out of free passes. If we lose this game, we're going to have to start depending on other people to get to where we want to go, which our ultimate goal is to win a (Big East) championship. We still control our own destiny. We have to keep winning. We said, ‘Great win,' but that stops tonight. We have to get ready for West Virginia."
